Huntington Drug and Alcohol Counseling / Education Center
The Huntington Drug & Alcohol Counseling/Education Center is a private, not-for-profit, state licensed, outpatient substance use disorder treatment/prevention provider. We utilize diverse and caring licensed clinicians to provide services both in the community and onsite. We are funded by the NYS Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services, Suffolk County, and the Town of Huntington.
Treatment services are highly individualized, and include evaluation, assessment, referral as well as group/individual/family counseling. Specialty offering are available for adolescents, those with gender related issues, impaired driving offenders, and individuals whose primary language is Spanish. Treatment is also provided for those affected by the substance use of a family member or significant other.
Prevention services include age-appropriate educational curricula, community presentations, and tailored evidence-based early interventions for youth identified as at-risk for substance use problems.

To provide comprehensive, prevention, education, and treatment services to youth and adults.
Eligibility
Any individual of any age can access services. Eligible individuals must be at risk to begin substance use, actively using substances, or affected by substance use in another. We accept referrals from legal and healthcare agencies, and collaborate fully with local referral sources.
Fees
Most insurance is accepted, including Medicaid. No one is turned away as sliding scale fees are enacted for those uninsured or otherwise unable to afford treatment. Initial assessment fee is $50.00, which includes a psychiatric evaluation.
Services at a glance
Individual Counseling assists individuals with coping skills and personal issues.
Group Counseling helps clients develop connections, use support and encouragement, and add structure to lives often in crisis.
Specialty groups include:
Adolescent Group, with attention to social difficulties and establishment of identity.
Womens Group, consideration of stigma, trauma, and other gender-specific areas.
Mens Group, with emphasis on feelings, social norms, and other gender-specific areas.
Latino Group, conucted in Spanish, with sensitivity to cultural aspects around seeking
help, dealing with family, and spirituality.
Significant Other Counseling helps family and friends of substance users develop healthier coping skills, and use support for growth.
Family Counseling Sessions engage client and family in establishing healthy boundaries, communication, and progress.
Recovery Workshop Series assists clients to identify triggers, use healthy coping techniques, understand addiction as an illness of body, mind, and spirit as well as examine tolls for sustained recovery, including use of self-help community groups
Impaired Driver Series educates clients who have had arrests for driving offenses related to alcohol and drug use. The focus is on decision making and consequential cognition.
